I started learning LINC Home Study, a free, online English study program sponsored by Canadian governments for newcomers, three years and a quarter ago. A very nice instructor would call me with Whatsapp and Skype half an hour once a week to take classes. I'm very lucky to have joined the program which provided me with a systematic way to enhance listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities together. This morning, I finally got my graduate certificate with 4 eights(comparable to IELTs 8).  Before my departure to China two years ago, I told my instructor I might not continue to study because I would go back to China in the future years (which might be against the policy of the program). She encouraged me to continue for not being in Canada wouldn't be a problem since several of her other students were studying in Japan, Korean and Russia. Then I didn't give up and finally graduate today . So I really appreciated my instructor, who is very responsible for my study and gave me so many helps. She not only taught me the materials on LINC's website, but also gave me numerous other resources to study: TED Talks, YouTube videos and even IELTS exams with various of topics, such as AI, ChatGpt, history, biography of great people, medicals. She corrected my pronunciations and homework very patiently. And I really enjoyed the small talk with her at the beginning of every class. At first, the talk would be about 3 minutes. But with the advance of my degree, the time increased to from 15 to 20 minutes and the topics became broader and broader, like Canada's and China's economies and real estate markets, the pandemic in Canada and China, how to refurbish my house, my recent work, and more.
